AI clone for course creators: let students ask your course anything

Last updated

An AI clone for course creators is a twin of you, built from your course, books and recordings, that students can question at any hour by chat, voice or a live avatar. On AIMayDo (aimaydo.com) it's free to build. You set a price per minute above the €0.50 base, students pay only while they talk to it, and you keep 80% of your markup. When a student runs out of credit, the twin can point them to your course.

What does an AI clone do for a course creator?

It answers the questions your students would otherwise send you. Your course already holds the answers, but students don't always find the right lesson, and they ask at times you're not around. A twin answers from your own material, in your words, and it says so when a question falls outside what you've covered.

It also sells for you. A twin on your website lets a visitor try your teaching before they buy anything, and at the end of their free time it shows one link of yours, such as the page of the course you sell.

What can you build it from?

Anything you've already made: course lessons and transcripts, your books and articles, worksheets, podcast episodes and videos. Text and documents work as they are, and recordings are transcribed. The more of your real teaching you add, the more it answers like you.

Building it is a few steps:

  1. Upload your material, with a face photo and a short voice clip.
  2. Read the rules drawn from your material, and approve the ones that are yours.
  3. Test it with questions you know the answers to, and compare its replies with your own.
  4. Give consent and connect payouts, which is also Stripe's identity check.
  5. Set your price and publish.

How do students pay for it?

Per minute, and only while they're talking to it. You set the price at or above the platform base of €0.50 a minute, and you keep 80% of everything above the base. A typed question costs a quarter of a minute.

Students buy credits through Stripe and spend them at your price. They don't subscribe to you, and their credits don't expire.

A worked example, not a forecast: at €1.50 a minute you keep €0.80 of every paid minute. If your students spend 400 paid minutes with your twin in a month, that's €320 for you. Payouts go out through Stripe once a month when your balance reaches €100. The calculator on how to monetize an AI avatar works it out for your own numbers.

New twins start at the base price, where you earn nothing, so raise it in your dashboard once the twin sounds like you.

Can it send students to your course?

Yes. You set one link and a short line of text in your dashboard. A visitor who has used up the free taster and has no credit left sees it below the top-up options, so the people most interested in your teaching see your course at the moment they want more.

Should students get free time first?

Usually yes, because people want to hear the twin before they pay. You set free minutes and free questions per twin, 3 minutes by default, and you pay for that taster from your own credits at the base rate. Set it to zero if you'd rather not give any free time.

Where does the twin live?

On its own page on AIMayDo, in the experts directory if you want it there, and on your own website with one script tag or an iframe. Your own site is usually the best place to start, because your readers and students are already there.

What does the twin not do?

It's labelled as AI on every screen, and it gives information from your material, not personal or regulated advice. It doesn't answer as if it were you in person, and it tells people when a question goes beyond what you've taught. Grounded AI persona explains how it stays within your material.

How do you start?

Create your twin for free, add a course you've already made, and test it with the questions your students ask most. There's no subscription. You only pay for the free taster you choose to give.

Questions people ask

Can I make an AI clone of my online course?
Yes. Upload your lessons, transcripts, books and recordings, approve the rules drawn from them and test the answers. Students can then question your course by chat, voice or a live avatar in your voice. It's free to build on AIMayDo.
How much can a course creator earn from an AI clone?
It depends on your price and the paid minutes your students spend with it. You keep 80% of what you charge above the €0.50 base. At €1.50 a minute you keep €0.80, so 400 paid minutes in a month is €320. We don't publish an average, because we haven't got numbers that would make one true.
Will an AI clone replace my course?
No. It answers questions from the course you've made, and it can send people to that course with one link when their free time runs out. Most creators use it as the way in to what they already sell.
Do my students need a subscription?
No. They buy credits through Stripe and pay per minute, only while they're talking to your twin. Credits don't expire, and a typed question costs a quarter of a minute.
Where are payouts available?
Payouts go through Stripe once a month when your balance reaches €100. They're available to experts in the EU, Norway, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States.

If you want to build one, it is free to start. If you would rather see a live one first, our co-founder Dr. Evangelos Katsioulis, a psychiatrist, has his own twin running.
