How to build an AI coach from your own content

This guide is for coaches and other experts who want an AI version of themselves for their clients. It doesn't cover coaching apps for your own use or writing a chatbot in code.

On AIMayDo, an AI coach is a twin of you. The text chat and the live talking avatar that speaks in your cloned voice come from one build. It replies in the visitor's language, and it answers from your own material and the decision rules you approved.

What are the steps to build an AI coach?

Nine steps take you from material you already have to a live twin your clients can use:

1. Prepare your material.
2. Upload it, with a face photo and a short voice clip.
3. Review and approve the decision rules drawn from it.
4. Write test questions and measure fidelity.
5. Give consent and connect payouts, which checks your identity.
6. Set your price and your free taster.
7. Publish.
8. Put it on your own website.
9. Share it with your audience.

Step 5 is the hard gate: no twin goes live without it. Steps 3 and 4 are where you find out whether it sounds like you, so don't rush them.

What makes a good AI coach?

A good AI coach sounds like you, because it learns from material where you're talking or writing in your own voice. The rules you approve decide how it handles a question you never answered word for word. When something falls outside your material, it says so instead of making something up, and you choose which topics it may speak on.

Every twin is labelled as AI. It gives information, not regulated advice, and it points people back to you or to another professional when they need one.

It has limits too. It only knows what you've put into words. It doesn't know what happened in your sessions with a client. It can be confidently wrong at the edges of your material, which is why the review steps matter.

The platform is for everyone: coaches, consultants, teachers, psychotherapists, doctors. Each professional decides for themselves whether a twin suits their practice. It doesn't deliver therapy, diagnosis or treatment.

Step 1: what content can you build an AI coach from?

You can build it from material you already have, in any of these formats:

• Documents (.docx) and plain text files (.txt), up to 8 megabytes each
• Spreadsheet exports (.csv), such as a list of client questions with your answers
• Audio and video files up to 200 megabytes, transcribed for you (long recordings take a while)
• A video link, such as a recorded talk or webinar, which is downloaded as audio and transcribed
• Text you paste straight in

Have your material as a PDF? Paste the text in, because PDF uploads aren't supported yet. Images and scanned pages aren't read. Links have to point at a video or audio page, so paste a blog post or article as text.

Which material works best?

• Pick material where you're talking. Recordings of you answering questions show how you really speak. Heavily edited articles can sound less like you.
• Favour answers over announcements. Question-and-answer sessions, workshop recordings, your method notes and long replies to common questions teach the twin how you reason. Sales pages teach it very little.
• Cover the questions clients ask most. Make sure each one is answered somewhere in what you upload.
• Leave out what you no longer believe. A twin repeats old positions under your name. Remove the old piece, or add material that says what you think now.
• Keep client details out. Don't upload session notes or anything that identifies a client.

Step 2: how do you build the AI coaching assistant from it?

You add your material to a draft twin and press Rebuild twin, which drafts a persona and decision rules from it. To create the draft, sign up and give your twin a name and a page address. You can add more material later and delete anything you've added.

The rebuild runs in the background and reads all of your material. The persona is how you speak and frame things, and the rules are how you weigh things up. They reach the live twin only when you publish the draft. On a twin that's already live, material you add can be used in answers straight away.

On the build page you also add a face photo and a voice clip, and tick the box consenting to your likeness and voice being used to build your twin. The photo should be square, at least 768 by 768 pixels, head and shoulders, one person, on a plain background. The voice clip should be 1 to 5 minutes of you speaking. We send both to our providers to create your face and voice, and we don't keep the raw files. Your voice is ready straight away. The face can take hours to generate.

Step 3: how do you check the rules it follows?

Read every rule in the draft and ask whether you'd say it to a client today. If your twin is already live, compare the draft with the live version.

If a rule is wrong, fix the source. Delete the old piece or add material that states your current view, then rebuild. Watch for rules that read fine on paper and sound nothing like you.

You can approve rules one at a time, or press Publish draft once you're happy with the whole thing. Only approved rules are used by the live twin. That's what we mean by a grounded AI persona: it answers from your material and the rules you signed off.

Also open your twin's settings and set the answer length (brief, balanced or detailed) and the topics it may speak on. Some topics can't be set yet, such as therapy, mental health, diagnosis or medication. Describe your area in plain terms instead, for example stress at work or sleep habits.

Step 4: how do you test whether it answers like you?

Write test questions, answer each one yourself, then press Measure fidelity to get a score from 0 to 100. Real questions from clients work best, with anything that identifies the client taken out.

The twin answers each question without seeing your answer, using the same approved rules and material as the live twin. A separate AI judge scores how closely each answer matches yours, and your score is the average. The score is about how close the twin is to you. It says nothing about whether an answer is right.

Once you've measured it, the score shows on your twin's page. With no test questions there's no score. It doesn't re-run by itself, so run it again from your dashboard after you add material, rebuild and publish the draft.

Pick questions where your answer takes a clear position, and add one or two near the edge of your topic.

Step 5: what has to happen before it can go live?

Two things: you grant consent in your dashboard, and Stripe checks your identity when you connect payouts. For the consent, you grant a licence to build the twin from your likeness, your voice and your name. Tick all three and press Grant consent. This is a separate step from the box on the build page. Your consent is recorded and stored. For payouts, you connect Stripe, and its identity check takes about five minutes.

If either one is missing, the twin stays a draft.

Step 6: how does pricing work?

You set a price per minute at or above the platform base of €0.50, and you keep 80% of the markup, meaning the part above the base. Our 20% commission applies to the markup only, never to the base. A new twin starts at the base price, where you earn nothing, so raise it before you publish.

A text question costs the visitor a quarter of a minute. Here's what a few prices work out to:

What you actually earn depends on how many people talk to your twin.

Visitors are billed only while talking. A live avatar session is billed per started minute, with a one-minute minimum. Payouts go through Stripe, monthly, once your earnings pass €100, and we cover the Stripe payout fees. Then the free taster. You set free minutes and free questions per twin, and the defaults are 3 minutes and 12 questions. When either runs out, the free part ends. Setting either one to zero switches the free part off. You pay for the free part from your own credits at the base rate, so a visitor who uses all of a 3-minute taster costs you about €1.50.

You can also add one link to a page of yours, such as a course you sell or your booking page, with a short line of text. Visitors see it once they've used up the free taster and have no credits left. The button label is fixed ("Open the course" in English), and visitors reading in English see your line of text above it.

Step 7: how do you publish it?

Press Take my twin live in your dashboard. Your twin gets its own page on aimaydo.com and a listing in the expert directory, unless you untick the listing. It stays usable on its own page and on your site either way.

You can suspend it at any time and bring it back later. Withdraw consent and we delete your cloned face and voice at our providers as well as in our database.

Step 8: can you put it on your own website?

Yes. Your dashboard gives you a short piece of code to copy into your site. It shows the twin on the page itself, or as a floating bubble that opens it. If your site builder doesn't allow scripts, there's a second version for that. Paste it where clients already look for answers, like your method page or the page people see after they book.

Then list the websites allowed to show your twin. No other site can.

Step 9: how do you get clients to use it?

Link your twin's page from the places your clients already see: your newsletter, your email signature, your booking confirmations and your social profiles. The twin can handle hundreds of conversations at once, so share it widely. Tell people plainly that it's an AI twin of you, and what it's good for.

Add a few starter questions in your dashboard. Visitors can tap one to get going, and you can set them per language. Pick the questions your clients ask most.
